Thursday, North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly released its list of the top verdicts and settlements in North Carolina for 2020. Edwards Kirby reported the largest personal injury award in the state with a $14.25 million settlement for the families of three workers killed in a 2015 scaffolding collapse in Raleigh. Commenting on the success, David Kirby said the size of the settlement reflects the fact that a jury would likely be sympathetic because of the unsafe conditions that the men were working under.

In addition to securing the #1 personal injury award in the state, Edwards Kirby cases also made the list of top verdicts and settlements at # 19, for a sexual assault that occurred in a sorority house and #34, for a police shooting death.
